                                                 WORKING INSTRUCTIONS

GETTING STARTED:-   Before starting embroidery, flatten out the canvas to remove creases.

HOW TO STITCH :-

 1. This picture is worked in simple long stitches throughout. Begin by threading the needle with all six strands of an appropriate color of thread.

2. Insert needle from the reverse of the canvas to the front of the canvas.

3. Leave a 1" long tail on the reverse of the canvas and hold it down against the canvas.

4. Work simple long stitches, making sure that the first several stitches cover and secure the tail on the reverse as indicated in Fig. (Click on image to enlarge)

FILLING AN AREA:-

1. Work the stitches vertically except in areas marked (------>), where the stitches are worked horizontally.

2. The printed outline of the design differentiated between two areas of color. Therefore the holes on the outline between two areas should be used for both the areas. This will ensure that there are no gaps and the canvas will be completely filled up as indicated in Fig. (Click on image to enlarge)

3. To prevent soiling of your work, I recommend that you commence embroidery with the dark shades first, and finish with lighter ones.

FINISHING:-

1. To finish, weave the thread through the back of the stitches already worked and snip off.

2. Once finished, turn the canvas and press with an iron on the wrong side. Do not slide the iron on the canvas as the threads may get disturbed. Instead, lift and press to flatten canvas and secure stitches in place.

3.An embroidered piece may be dry-cleaned but under no circumstances should it be hand/machine washed.

4. Frame as desired, depending on the decor and location of the room.

TIPS:-

1. To ensure an even tension of work, it is important to work the design as directed, so that you have simple long straight stitches in front and on the reverse of the canvas. Do not work back stitch on the reverse.

2. Work with fairly short lengths of thread to avoid knotting and tangling of thread. If your thread gets twisted, then hold the canvas and let the needle  drop, the thread will untwist.

3. Do not pass long threads from one place to another, especially dark colors behind light colors, as the thread will show trough. It is better to finish of and start a fresh.
